PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)

Skin renewal using growth factors obtained from the person's own blood.

PRP is the re-application to the patient, for treatment, of platelet-rich plasma obtained by processing a small amount of the patient's own blood.

Platelets contain many growth factors that support tissue repair and renewal. By delivering these growth factors to the skin, PRP aims to support skin renewal, increase collagen production and give the skin a more vibrant, firm and healthy appearance. Because PRP is obtained entirely from the person's own blood, the risk of allergic reaction is extremely low, making it a reliable procedure.

Although the treatment plan varies according to the aim of the procedure, sessions are usually carried out at 2–4-week intervals. The number of sessions is planned according to the person's needs, and 4–6 sessions are most often recommended.

Before the procedure, a tube of blood is taken from the patient and platelet-rich plasma is separated by a special centrifugation process. The PRP obtained is delivered to the treatment area with very fine needles or by microneedling. Any pain felt during the procedure is usually mild; where necessary, a topical anaesthetic cream can be applied beforehand to improve comfort. After the procedure, mild redness, swelling or small bruises can be seen; these usually resolve on their own within a short time and do not prevent a return to daily life.
